Who are we?

Carmarthenshire People First is an independent charity promoting independent advocacy, support and training for adults with learning disabilities, based in Carmarthenshire.

Carmarthenshire People First are proud to have been awarded
The Advocacy Quality Performance Mark, which is the only
Quality Mark for organisations offering independent advocacy.
It is based on the principles contained in
the Advocacy Code of Practice, enabling providers to demonstrate how they
are meeting vitally essential standards.

What do we do?

We provide a  professional independent advocacy service, supporting adults with learning disabilities, in Carmarthenshire, so that they can "live the life they choose".

We run a wide range of varying activities including a Cookery Class,
Bowling, a Crochet Class and Walking Groups.

We provide training for members, to learn new skills. We also provide training for other organisations and professionals, so that they better understand what it's like to live with a learning disability.

We want to make sure people know their rights. We want adults with learning disabilities to be involved at the centre of the decision making processes that affect their own lives.
